U-BOAT Introduces Two New Members of the 1938 DOPPIOTEMPO Series

Just one year after the launch of the Doppiotempo series in 1938, two new members of these popular U-Boat models appear in green and black versions

The U-Boat story continued in 2000, when Ilva’Fontana’s grandson, Italo Fontana, discovered old sketches of a 1942 watch that became the inspiration for the new brand. The watches are produced in Tuscany, which is remarkable considering the style and numerous decorative details of the watches, and the mechanics are purchased in Switzerland, which gives them quality and reliability. The Italian-Swiss collaboration has allowed the original watch to establish itself in numerous markets over the past two decades.

The latest model is included in the 1938 Doppiotempo series launched last year, with a limited model dedicated to the special units of the 9th Parachute Commando Regiment “Col Moschin”, a total of 200 pieces. The Extended Collection now features a green and black dial version within a satin-finished steel case with a diameter of 43 mm. The special feature of the 1938 Doppiotempo model is the two crowns on the left side of the case. One to set the exact time and date, the other to set the “doppiotempo” function, and the other to set the time zone via the inner rotating bezel.

The domed sapphire glass is treated with an anti-reflective coating. The back is also glass, through which you can see an automatic mechanism with a skeletonized rotor and a 44-hour power reserve. The housing cover is secured with eight screws. The watch has a retro-inspired design, so the hands and hour markers are beige, but with a SuperLuminova coating. The hands on the 24-hour subdial and the larger hands showing the second time zone are red.

Both new 1938 Doppiotempo models feature a laser-engraved green leather strap with a classic buckle.

U-Boat 1938 Doppiotempo reference 8400/A refers to the black model, reference 8500 is green.
