As one of the greatest sailing competitions in the world, Vendee Globe is about to begin. Swiss watch brand Ulysse Nardin (the official timekeeper for single-person high-risk races) celebrated by releasing a concept watch made of marine plastic pollution. In fact, Ulysse Nardin (Ulysse Nardin) often turns his attention to the ocean, and is now trying to find a solution to the plastic that pollutes our ocean. The brand even set up a dedicated research team to study the garbage found in the ocean and find ways to recycle it.
Ulysse Nardin Diver Net Concept watches use recycled fishing nets
In October, the brand reached a milestone by launching a new R-STRAP made from fishing nets. It is designed for use in its multiple collections, including Diver, Marine and Freak X, and is made entirely of recyclable fishing nets. Now, the brand has released the Diver Net concept cheap men watch. The interior of the watch is made of recycled materials. The case is made of recyclable fishing nets, and the design on the bezel is also made of fishing nets.
In fact, Ulysse Nardin turned to Fil & Fab (created by three designers who created France’s first fishing net recycling department), which recycles nets that are no longer used and converts them into polyamide pellets. These particles have high friction resistance and can be used by different companies for multiple purposes. Ulysse Nardin uses this material for the decorative elements of the Diver Net frame and the case.
Ulysse Nardin Diver Net Concept watches use ceramic glass
Furthermore, the brand replaced sapphire glass with transparent ceramic glass made in the Jura Mountains. Ceramic glass has less impact on the environment because of the limited energy used in its manufacturing process. In addition, Ulysse Nardin also equips the watch with the latest strap-made entirely of PET plastic, which was transformed into a spool by the Swiss TIDE band. The concept of the Diver Net watch explores the ideas and ways Ulysse Nardin can be more environmentally friendly.
This 44 mm watch is powered by Ulysse Nardin’s UN-118 movement, which can be seen through the transparent ceramic back cover. The hour markers and hands have acid green Super-LumiNova, which can be easily read underwater or in the dark. The green color (reference nature) remains on the dial, bezel, crown protector and strap pins. Since this is a concept luxury men watch and has not yet been mass-produced, no price has been specified.
