This new retro style diving watch is the new portal of the Ulysse Nardin series.
Just a few weeks ago, at the Monaco Yacht Show, Ulysse Nardin fake launched its new Diver Chronometer, a streamlined design of iconic models. Now, the series is complemented by a smaller 42mm model (compared to Diver Chronometer’s 44mm). The most important thing is that not only does the diameter change, but this watch will become the brand ’s new entry-level product.
If the design inspiration remains the same, with a concave bezel and a domed sapphire crystal, then the new Diver 42mm will not only be smaller. This three-pistol pistol has a cool new retro look. The neat dial has a pleasant grainy texture, with a sandblasted and retro-style beige indicator. It also contains surprising lines of text, which are actually the longitude and latitude of Le Locle, Switzerland, the brand’s hometown. As you would expect from a dive watch, the new model is equipped with illuminated hour markers and hands, a unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute scale and proper water resistance (300m).
The Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm case has also been subtly redesigned. Of course, its diameter is now reduced by 2 mm, but this is not all. The crown has been “turned down”, there are no more protective devices around the crown (more cautious, more retro), and the lugs are slightly slimmer. However, there are still iconic elements of UN divers, such as stepped lugs, a combination of brushed and polished surfaces or large notches on the bezel. The integrated rubber strap is no longer needed, because Ulysse Nardin chose to be more classic here.
The new Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm power automatic movement UN-816, with hours, minutes, central seconds and date (at 6 o’clock position is relatively cautious). This movement is based on the Sellita SW300, extensively modified by Ulysse Nardin, to incorporate internal silicon components for regulating organs. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 42-hour power reserve. The sturdy bottom cover is engraved with anchor motives or shark patterns (for the blue shark version).
There are many types of belts: black or dark blue textile or calfskin belts. If you want to buy a more steely, more alternative but fashionable cheap sale watch, you can also wear it on the Milanese mesh bracelet or a classic diver-style steel bracelet.
