Take a more modern approach to the incredible Virtuoso VIII Chapter 2.
As we have shown in the past, the watchmaking capabilities of Bovet 1822 are beyond doubt. When it comes to craftsmanship, it is on par with other high-end independent watchmakers in terms of complexity, originality and finishing. One of the most interesting examples of Bovet manufacturers is the Virtuoso series. Today, Bovet 1822 launched the new Virtuoso VIII Chapter 2 DLC-SLN, which is a more modern interpretation of complex timepieces.
The Virtuoso series is a series of eye-catching timepieces from Bovet, demonstrating the manufacturer’s superb mechanical capabilities and mastery of traditional techniques. Following the stunning Virtuoso VIII Chapter 2, this new iteration brings some modernity to the series, but with some changes.
Generally, in the high-end watch industry, such complex-looking watches are made of precious metals. But as we have seen before, Bowei is not shy about pushing the limits and proposing attractive new designs. Therefore, in this case, Virtuoso VIII Chapter Two DLC-SLN has a black DLC-coated titanium alloy with Bovet’s signature slanted profile. The black case alone presents the appearance of the watch in a completely different direction. By the way, this is especially true when experiencing other changes in the watch, which are purely aesthetic.
The new Virtuoso VIII Chapter Two DLC-SLN used to be equipped with a pair of aventurine stone dials, with five different color combinations, all at full lumens. This means that the entire dial glows bright green in the dark. The dial comes in green, blue, yellow, purple or (monochrome favorite) salmon pink. Naturally, everything is covered (and on the back) with sapphire crystal.
Super-LumiNova is not limited to two sub-dials; the minute ring around the one-minute tourbillon is also coated with luminous material. Despite the new look, all other details remain the same. You still have a pair of central hands that indicate the time, a power reserve indicator on the left subdial, and a large date display on the right subdial. The date can be corrected by simply pressing the blue cabochon located on the crown, without removing the watch from the wrist.
The 17BM06-GD movement developed and manufactured in-house is still at the heart of things. As you would expect from Bovet, the decoration is top-notch, and the main board and several bridge boards have a brand new black Geneva corrugated finish. The single barrel can be seen through the bottom cover of the exhibition, which can provide up to 10 days of power after being fully wound. The dual patented system reduces the number of windings of the barrel by half. This is a popular feature that provides 240 hours of energy. The time is set and the movement is wound by the iconic Bovet crown at 12 o’clock.
