Only love and samba: NOMOS Glashütte Zürich World Time Sambal for Revolution

Get ready for our hottest collaboration yet—the new NOMOS Glashütte Zürich World Time Sambal for Revolution is a symbol of pure, unadulterated joy and zest for life.

Listen, I get it. Getting through 2024 emotionally unscathed is like grabbing a handful of a wild horse’s mane and clenching your teeth as it desperately tries to pull you out of its roller coaster ride. To quote Charles Dickens from A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness…”

Because we believe in the true beauty of those magical objects that blend science and magic, art and engineering—the mechanical watch. So, for our last release of the year, we wanted to create a timepiece that we thought was sure to put a smile on your face. Why? Because it uses NOMOS Glashütte’s Zürich platform, a super cool interactive multi-time zone watch that we think has an excellent value proposition. But now its color scheme combines three shades of pink; a dark, almost ruby hue, plus a searing peach and a soft peach. Look at this high quality fake watches we named “Sambal”. How can you not love it? How did this watch come about?

Well, back in April of this year, NOMOS Glashütte did something very sincere and cool when it first participated in the “Watches & Wonders” exhibition. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its beloved Tangente 38 watch, the brand created 31 versions of the watch, a total of 175 pieces, to commemorate 175 years of watchmaking history in Glashütte. At the Frank Stella exhibition, these Bauhaus-style Tangente watches were fully displayed in cotton candy and Easter egg tones, presenting a kaleidoscope of visual colors, bringing a sense of lightheartedness to the otherwise stiff corporate atmosphere of the “Watches & Wonders” exhibition. Everyone who walked into the NOMOS booth decided to stay, relax, and soak up the intoxicating, optimistic, and colorful charm of the Tangente collection.

But there was one color that immediately caught my eye. You might be surprised that I actually love pink. My wedding, which will take place by the time you read this, will be in a pink hotel, and my best men and I will be wearing pink tuxedos to match our evening gowns. I also have a replica of the bright pink Pinarello Dogma bike that belonged to Caisse d’Epargne rider David Arroyo, who won the “pink jersey” at the 2010 Giro d’Italia. My very pretty miniature dachshund, Bandit, and I are known for pairing pink outfits together and taking after-dinner walks around the neighborhood. So when I saw the NOMOS Glashütte Tangente 38 (the watch is actually 37.5 mm) in the “Chili” colorway, I knew I had to have it. The dial is an alluring combination of dark, bright, and light pink, and it’s one of the purest, most delightful watches I’ve seen in a long time. replica watches for sale

NOMOS Glashütte Zurich World Time Watch
As I sat there staring at this beautiful pink watch, I began to come up with a pink-themed, absolutely gorgeous NOMOS Zürich version of the famous world time watch. I’ve always loved the Zürich. With a diameter of 40mm, a height of 10.9mm, and a lug-to-lug width of 49mm, it’s the perfect size for a world time watch for me. It’s actually the same size as my Patek Philippe Ref. 5131 Cloisonné watch, which functions similarly. I know everyone loves smaller timepieces these days! But in the Zürich, with the addition of a city disc to show the time in the 24 major time zones around the world, anything smaller than 40mm is a little hard to read for me. The Zürich is also one of the smartest and most intuitive multi-time zone watches, in my opinion. Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way first – the Zürich is not, strictly speaking, a world time zone, as the watch doesn’t actually show the time in all 24 time zones simultaneously. But it does allow you to quickly know the time in any city in the world by pressing the button at two o’clock.

Here’s how the Zürich works. Use the button to set the city disc until your home city, or the city that represents that time zone, is at 12 o’clock. Then pull out the crown and set the 24-hour disc to the correct time. Now that’s your home time. There’s a very clear arrow mark at three o’clock pointing to that position. And, to prevent any confusion, on the inside of the frosted dial, there’s a “home” icon at three o’clock, too. Then use the recessed button at eight o’clock to set the hour hand on the dial to the correct position. It may seem like an unnecessary extra step. But wait, because once you’ve set it, the fun begins. Just press the button once, and when the new city jumps to the 12 o’clock position, the hand automatically jumps forward to show the correct local time there. This means that when you arrive in a new city by plane, setting the local time is as simple as a few button presses at two o’clock. Additionally, if you need to call someone in another city and want to check the time in another city, simply press the button again until their time zone is 12 o’clock, and jump back to your local time zone when you are done. Finally, in the midst of all this busy activity, the home time remains constant, so you always have a reference time if you want to say good morning or goodnight to your significant other. While this may not seem as practical as a full display world time high quality watches replica , it does make tracking the time in different time zones easy, fun, and highly interactive.

Season of Spice
After getting the go-ahead from Roland Schwertner to create a pink “chili” themed Zurich World Time watch, we started coming up with names for the watch. Bryan Tan from our team came up with the name “Sambal,” a very spicy but very delicious chili sauce made from chilies, shrimp paste, lime, garlic, ginger, and shallots, the recipe of which is a closely guarded secret in many households. Sambal is widely used in many of our street food dishes in Southeast Asia, such as my personal favorite, Laksa. Sambal is also a family of chili sauces, with 100 different types of subcategories, which reflects our region’s obsession with spices. Since this limited edition watch is named after our local cuisine, we had to replace “Hong Kong on the dial” with Singapore, which is often considered the culinary center of our region and where sambal is used in many ways. Since this watch is designed for “hot weather” use, we replaced the calfskin strap that Zurich watches usually come with with a light gray fabric strap to make it more comfortable to wear in hot climates.

The dial here uses the same visually appealing combination of dark pink, almost burgundy, bright pink for the seconds dial, and pale pink for the sunken city dial, and we think the effect is very striking.

Powered by the NOMOS self-developed DUW 5201 automatic movement, this watch displays the hallmarks of German watchmaking that fans of the brand love and expect: a Glashütte three-quarter plate, fully decorated with Glashütte ribbing and NOMOS perlage, and a Glashütte sunburst pattern on the ratchet and double wheels. NOMOS’ proprietary escapement, known as the Swing System, remains one of the German brand’s greatest achievements and can be found in the DUW 5201. Fully wound, it keeps time for 42 hours. This level of in-house craftsmanship is almost unheard of at this price point. replica Breitling Endurance Pro
