A stylish new colorway.
The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar combines two of the most complex complications in watchmaking with symmetry and classic elegance. It has undergone several facelifts since its launch in 2013, including the champlevéed Handwerkskunst in 2017. Now, the brand presents an updated version of the model, with a “salmon-coloured” dial (officially called “pink gold”) while retaining the traditionally constructed movement, in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
Due to the complexity and quality of the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar, envisioning further improvements can be challenging. The Handwerkskunst version has many fine decorations.
There is now a salmon dial, which is a bit unexpected as the rest of the 1815 collection lacks color and it sticks fairly strictly to the silver dial regardless of the case metal. Perhaps the only downside to this version is that it’s just a dial change, without any substantive changes worth noting. But the inherent quality of the watch itself, whether it is processing, structure or complexity, is already very, very high. So adding new shades to an otherwise conservative 1815 collection is never a bad thing, especially in this limited-edition fashion.
New colorway, but same caliber
The dial is the same as the standard model, with four sub-dials reminiscent of the charm of Lange pocket watches. It comes in a salmon color and is officially marked “18k rose gold,” indicating that the color comes from the metal itself rather than the coating.
Aside from the salmon color, the rest of the design remains the same except for the color change from red to blue for the 15, 30 and 45 minute numerals, which feels very natural considering the similarity in tone to the hands. The hour, minute and rattrapante hands are made of blued steel, while the other hands are rhodium-plated.
It is crafted in 18k white gold and has the same case dimensions as the regular model, measuring 41.9mm in diameter and 14.7mm high.
Equipped with L101.1, the best replica watches offers a 42-hour power reserve. It combines a perpetual calendar that does not need to be reset until 2100, and a split-seconds mechanism with two independent column wheels for the chronograph and split-seconds functions.
The movement is exquisitely crafted and decorated in typical Lange style, especially the balance cock and chronograph bridges.
