With lugs shaped like an X, a confident presence, and a rare blue PVD full coating, the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon stands out in many ways. This 47 mm ergonomic timepiece redefines the luxury sports watch in a colorful livery, yet another symbol of Jacob & Co.’s unhindered watchmaking spirit.
Under the blue translucent dial, its new exclusive chronograph movement with flying tourbillon sets it apart. An inner minute ring controlled by a screw-down crown at 10 o’clock gives it additional functionality. Jacob & Co. Limited First Edition, dressed in summer white and blue.
Jacob & Co.’s newest chronograph is the stunning blue crown on top of the Epic X collection. The Epic X Chrono Tourbillon has an all-titanium case. The case, bezel, caseback and crown guard are all made of ultra-light metal. It is satin-finished in orientation following the general shape of each component: the bezel is round, the pusher guards are horizontal, and the lugs are two-way.
The metal is also painted blue thanks to a PVD surface treatment. Hard and scratch-resistant to begin with, this coating does much more than just aesthetics, its character is enhanced. fake luxury watches
The hints from the Epic Design Matrix are clearly visible. The claw-shaped lugs line up with the vertical bars on the translucent blue dial, forming the original X pattern from which the Epic X is named. These lugs slope steeply in order to secure the case seamlessly to the wrist. Necessary precautions to make this 47mm watch fit as many arm sizes as possible.
Thanks to this design feature, the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon was able to sit in the watch community and stick with smaller arms. So the overall impression of width and volume is not that of a 47mm case. The sloping bezel and smaller dial aperture create the impression of a smaller timepiece.
However, the thinking behind this new addition to the Epic X family isn’t shy, and that’s by no means what Jacob & Co. designed it to be. But on the contrary, confidence and boldness do not preclude ergonomics. Therefore, the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is far more form and function than meets the eye. For example, a PVD blue coating on titanium makes it less prone to wear and scratches. However, this benefit is second only to the impression the shade itself makes. cheap watches review
The shade of blue chosen for the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is neither a flashy electro-optic nor a deep navy blue, but a pleasingly light and fresh hue accentuated by many white secondary elements. The crown and pushers are carved from white ceramic, as are the side inlays on each lug. The hands of the main and sub-dials are skeletonized white. The same goes for the rubber strap with its central honeycomb pattern, which is another throwback to the original Epic X design.
The white inner rotating minute track again catches the eye. Activated by the screw-down crown at 10 o’clock, it counts down events, which complements the chronograph. It also has secondary, unexpected and discreet advantages.
That, plus the titanium case, which is water resistant to 200 meters and which doubles as a protected rotating bezel, make the Epic X Chrono Tourbillon a fully functional dive watch. This includes painting the last ten minutes on the minute ring black, a useful feature for divers as it signals they are running out of oxygen.
The automatic movement JCAA09 is a new Jacob & Co. exclusive movement. This column wheel dual pusher chronograph features a biaxial chronograph with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. It complements the Jacob & Co. One Minute Flying Tourbillon. Without upper bridges, the tourbillon cage sits on the same level as the sapphire and mineral glass dial.
This creates a continuous effect that helps seamlessly integrate the tourbillon into the overall design of the piece. The upper side of the cage is crescent-shaped and openworked, in keeping with the typical Jacob & Co. design, while also having the advantage of light weight, a prerequisite for any Jacob & Co. tourbillon.
X mark position
Caliber JCAA09 has been carefully crafted to be called a haute horlogerie movement. The movement bridges are polished, the main plate is circular-grained, and the column wheel is bevelled, polished and horizontally ground. The main bridge of this movement has a unique decorative pattern. Inspired by the large X stripes on the dial, it unites front and back in the spirit of a single pattern.
Skeletonized anthracite-coloured rotor with “Jacob & Co Genève” engraving in red lacquer. Its shape is typical of the Epic X Chronographs line, as is the colored mineral glass covering the back. It has the exact same tone as the dial and is covered with sapphire crystal for ultimate protection and sealing.
The Epic X Chrono Tourbillon is more than the sum of its many details. It’s a statement of watchmaking acumen, functionality and style, delivered in a unique colorway Jacob. cheap watches online
