Bovet 1822 partners with Rolls-Royce to create two unique timepieces, seeing is believing

What happens when a couple from Bovet cheap and Rolls-Royce team up with the two brands to realize their watch and car dreams? Of course it is the first in the industry.

It started with a dream. Now, after three years of hard work, it’s finally here. The project began with a married couple’s vision to have a Rolls-Royce custom-built to their precise design specifications, known as ‘The Poop’, and included a pair of Bovet timepieces that could serve as a car clock or be worn on the wrist . The cars manufactured by Watch and Coach are 100% commissioned and unique in the world.

“Based on a true commission model, Boat Tail represents a collaborative exploration of luxury, design and culture between Bovet 1822, Rolls-Royce and the commissioning client,” Bovet said in a statement.

Both Bovet and Rolls-Royce are committed to fine craftsmanship and unwavering standards. One of the many challenges faced by Bovet was to create a timepiece that could withstand the movement of the car and keep accurate time while continuously maintaining its vertical position.

As you probably already know, the tourbillon was originally invented to minimize the effect of gravity on pocket fake watches price movements. This is no small matter, as pocket watches are always worn vertically, so gravity often affects the accuracy of timekeeping. Therefore, the tourbillon function was a natural choice as a starting point for the watch.

Amadeo comes to the rescue
Bovet created a version of its proprietary Amadéo System to create a dashboard-mounted clock that could be converted into a wristwatch, desk clock, pocket watch and pendant watch. In addition, each watch is designed to the exact specifications of the collector.

Encased in 18K gold, they are engraved and blue-lacquered on the women’s and highly polished on the men’s. Both have hand-engraved Rolls-Royce’s iconic ‘Ecstasy’ statue on the tourbillon bridge plate, and feature hand-set obsidian Ayus wood marquetry, which perfectly complements the wood of the stern.

On the reverse, the men’s dial is aventurine glass with the owner’s celestial map superimposed on it. The mother-of-pearl dial of the women’s watch is decorated with hand-painted miniature flower bouquets. Additionally, to add to the uniqueness of the watch and its close connection to the car, each reversed dial features an engraved replica of the car, painted in the exact same color as the car, with detailed hand-painting, including the rear view mirrors , wheel and door treatments.

thrill of challenge
“As a long-time Rolls-Royce owner and enthusiast, I am particularly delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in such a special bespoke project,” said Bovet 1822 owner Pascal Raffy. “The owner of this coach and these bespoke timepieces is a dear friend of mine and a valued collector of Bovet 1822, so it was important to do the best for them – two brand new pieces on par with anything we’ve ever done before Everything is different”

The installation of car dashboards was another daunting challenge for Bovet. Dashboard mounts must be tested to strict automotive standards and meet predetermined weight limits. It had to go through the rigorous testing required by Rolls-Royce, including safety, vibration and security. “No other timepiece has been subjected to such rigorous scrutiny and testing – including crash tests,” the brand said.

Both watches measure 44mm, feature a bespoke 60-second tourbillon, are hand-wound, and have a five-day power reserve. Each piece can be transformed into a watch by attaching a strap, a pocket watch by attaching a bracelet, a pendant by attaching a necklace chain, or a table clock by simply placing it on a table. Inside, there is a bespoke drawer for timepieces, watch straps, fob chains and necklace chains. The drawers slide directly into the dashboard.

Extraordinary new car and new watch
What is certain is that there has never been a timepiece quite like this one. Likewise, according to CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce’s bodybuilding created a completely unique new car. “This is a seminal moment for Rolls-Royce,” he said. “Rolls-Royce Coachbuild is a return to our brand roots. It represents the opportunity for a selected few to take part in creating a completely unique personal commission with future historic significance.”

Of course, to obtain this extreme luxury, you need strong financial resources. But as the ultimate expression of bespoke quality, watches and cars are the stuff of dreams.
