Type in Jaguar E, which is an icon in automotive engineering. It was produced by the legendary British car manufacturer from 1961 to 1975, and when it was launched, Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever” (Classic Car Review 1964, article by Sean Curtis). This became a platform for British watch brand Bremont and Hyundai Jaguar to launch new watches inspired by design. We recently interviewed Giles English of Bremont at Baselworld 2015 and introduced Bremont Jaguar Mk 1’s comments.
Although the new Bremont watch is made in Switzerland, it is undoubtedly one of the interesting British and private brands that have been put on the market in recent years. They are known for their enthusiasm for cooperating with other companies. They launched watches. They collaborated with Boeing and many other companies to incorporate design elements in the movie “King of Glory”. Now they are cooperating with Jaguar to launch Mk 1 and Mk 2 watches. Mk 2 is a chronograph, but our focus in this review is the elegant and simple Mk 1, which is designed in the spirit of Jaguar Lightweight.
This collaboration resulted in a gold and aluminum chronograph to match the six reproduced E-Type watches created by Jaguar last year, valued at $1.6 million. These 6 watches sold out soon. To make the awesome design more accessible to the public, the Mk 1 and Mk 2 watches are now made of steel instead of limited editions.
Many areas have borrowed design cues from the legendary Jaguar E-Type. The dial is inspired by Jaguar’s dashboard. The steering wheel is replicated with its extraordinary beauty, and is echoed in the watch as the theme of the self-winding rotor. The crown has a pattern design, which is a pattern design for car tires. These interesting little design details make the tribute watch stand out from admirers and point it in the same great direction as the tribute object.
The Bremont Jaguar Mk1 dial has a badge with the original Jaguar logo. The design of the minute mark looks like a tachometer and includes a red sector to indicate the engine red line in the car. Alas, it would be more interesting if Bremont used it to represent the indication in the watch, perhaps the low power reserve indication of the watch, but in fact, it is just a design hint.
The whole package looks just right, and the design line index is proud to point to and pay tribute to the Jaguar E-type. The case is made of stainless steel, using a technology Bremont calls “Trip-Tick”. Bremont claims that it is made entirely in the UK, ensuring that its hardness is seven times that of ordinary steel watches.
This movement, called BWC/01, is based on a movement made by La Joux Perret, with some parts designed and manufactured in the UK. For a watch in this price range, the surface treatment is quite good and covers all the basics of good engineering surface treatment. Even this level of finishing is quite a tribute to Jaguar, which is an engineering miracle. In this case, the decoration is too high, as we usually find in high-end luxury watches.
Bremont Jaguar Mk1. The stainless steel case, 43 mm in diameter, is very comfortable to wear on the wrist. The strap adopts the classic 60s perforated leather strap to further reflect the design.
Quite an interesting watch, we think this is a well-thought-out tribute replica swiss watches, not only a “tribute to xxx”, but also cooperate with the watch company and the tribute company. The design clues are well thought out and the attention to detail is excellent.
