Since the first cars competed for the fastest time, clocks and cars have been closely linked. Car fans love watches, they all love mechanical precision, beauty and performance. However, the movement of the watch cannot truly capture the feeling, energy and power of a high-performance car engine. That is, until now – Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon.

It started with the idea jointly conceived by Jacob & Co. and Bugatti-how to reproduce the inner feeling of the iconic Bugatti 16-cylinder engine in a clock.
After nearly a full year of development, the answer is the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Everything is to pay tribute to the watchmaker. The design of the case is inspired by Chiron’s smooth lines, and the movement or “engine block” (designed to replicate a Bugatti engine) is placed under a huge sapphire crystal for everyone to watch.
What’s interesting is that by pressing the right crown of the clock, the engine becomes lifelike-the crankshaft rotates and the pistons pump up and down, just like a real internal combustion engine. When the engine is running, the two “turbochargers” (four in actual Chiron engines) located on the side of the engine block reduce the visual impact.
The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon watches has an incredible appearance and an incredible realization (the movement consists of 578 parts). It has done something that no one has ever tried before-seamlessly integrates with the engine and the watch.
First of all, the incredible flying tourbillon movement is completely clean design. Jacob & Co. has been cooperating with movement suppliers for more than a year to achieve this amazing achievement.
The top and sides of the watch are sapphire crystals, making each side of the watch visible. Of course, the most attractive is the engine animation. The crankshaft that drives the crankshaft is one of the smallest and most complex watch parts ever made, and is made from a single piece of solid steel. Pistons that are difficult to manufacture are mounted on the crankshaft at various angles to maximize the effect.
The movement is completely suspended in four places, looking like an actual car vibration from Chiron. The movement actually floats inside the case-you can see it moving up and down inside the case. The engine block is composed of two “exhaust ports”, thus completing the design of the engine theme.
Except for animation, the less themes, the more. Except for the flying tourbillon with the Jacob & Co. logo, anywhere else on the front of the watch, the only other trademark is the subtle EB logo on the engine compartment. The crankcase is equipped with 16 pistons, ready and ready.
The orientation of the whole watch is facing forward to show the spectacular movement, so you can show your friends the 30º tilted tourbillon and animation. The windows of the tourbillon are based on the iconic horseshoe grille of the Bugatti supercar.
The crown of the watch is located at the bottom of the case-the left crown sets the time, the middle crown winds the movement (60 hours power reserve) and animation, and then press the right crown to start the animation.
The suspension of the movement presents another challenge to movement designers, as they have to create (and apply for a patent) a special automotive-style lateral system to prevent the crown from moving up and down inside the case and being damaged.
The power reserve of the animation and the power reserve of the chronograph are different, but both are wound around the mainspring, the movement rotates clockwise, and the engine animation rotates counterclockwise. At three o’clock, the power reserve indicator even has a general air pump symbol on the side of the meter.
The Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon by Jacob & Co. is the world’s first-a real engine on the wrist.
An interesting fact: The Bugatti Chiron supercar is named after Louis Chiron, a member of the Equipe Bugatti and one of the greatest drivers before World War II.
