This week, Grand Seiko makes a statement for the new year with the launch of an extraordinary comprehensive complication at Watches & Wonders. And, let me tell you, the Kodo Constant Force Tourbillon SLGT003 is a starter.

Grand Seiko balances its astonishing technical achievements with equally gorgeous fine jewelry. The “White Lion” (proprietary name: SBGD209) combines the high precision of the brand’s Spring Drive 8 Days movement with the ingenious decoration of 267 diamonds and 26 black spinels set on the dial, bezel, paving the Extensive case space.
Grand Seiko has introduced five new sports models in its Evolution 9 collection, all of which perfectly live up to the Spring Drive Movement’s promise of impressive functionality and versatility. Specifically, there are two GMT models (SBGE283 and SBGE285), two chronograph GMT models (SBGC249 and SBGC251), and a spectacular dive watch with a five-day Spring Drive Calibre 9RA5 (SLGA015).
Granted, the execution of a sports watch could transform into a presentation with universal appeal that ends up feeling a bit formulaic. But overall, the subtle design cues of these additions to the Evolution 9 lineup make them all beautiful, yet special in their own eyes.
